Last night's American Idol theme was rock, and it was easy to guess who the star of the night was. None other than Adam Lambert. He is a real rock star. He has an amazing voice, a wonderful stage control, a stunning style, full of artistry and the ability to make people jump of their seats when listening to his songs.
For this week, he has chosen one of the most difficult rock songs of all time: Whole lotta love by Led Zeppelin. I consider that a very brave choice, since the song contains a lot of notes that are extremely high and hard to reach, and it's very fast paced also. Robert Plan is a legend, and it's an uphill task to cover his song without making it sound stupid and short of breath, but Adam managed to do it, and he did it awesomely.
Last week, people were shocked to see Adam in bottom two. This week, it will be a disaster, an unreasonable disaster if such a wonderful performance still lands him in the bottom group again.
And here is the original by the almighty Led Zeppelin. Personally, I still find the original version better than Adam's cover. It may be because of the quality of the guitar riff delivered by Jimmy Page, one of the best guitar heroes in rock history, or because of the effect brought about by the mixer. Anyway, given the short preparation period, Adam is still wonderful :D
